Handspun Honeys: Brittany + Jake

Our first #handspunhoneys of 2016 were Brittany + Jake, aka the most adorable couple that ever was. These two share a love story that was meant to be captured in pages and put on the bookshelf right next to Jane Austen, Nicholas Sparks, and the like! Why the book metaphor, you ask? Well, because we fell in love with the theme of their special day! From the Save the Date that came in the form of an old-school library checkout slip to the seating chart that was organized in an old filing drawer to help you find your chapter (table!), the day was infused with meaningful details that tied their love story into a bound novel that they would cherish forever!

Favorite moments of the day include getting to work with Kristi McKeag and her husband, Matt (#dreamteam), seeing Brittany’s wedding dress hang next to her mother’s, finding Josh LYING ON THE FLOOR in front of one of the heaters after shooting outside (in the very windy 38 degree weather!), and sending the two lovebirds off in a sparkler exit (the sparklers get me every time!).

Let it also be known that Brittany was one of the most incredibly strong people we have met, and with the sweetest soul to boot. There were moments of her day that would easily have stressed out any bride, but she handled them with honesty, grace, and an open heart that kept her kind and humble. And as we got to see – in what was easily the most heart-filling first touch we have ever witnessed – the love she shared with Jake was the most powerful thing, the whole motivation behind that day, and the only thing that mattered to them. Watching Jake’s face light up when he saw Brittany coming down the aisle, we knew that powerful feeling was oh so mutual. 🙂
