It is crazy to think that these two Honeys were our last pair of 2015! What a whirlwind of a year it was. We could not have been blessed with a more perfect couple to celebrate our last wedding with. Kathryn is an absolute soul sister with a heart of gold, a goofy sense of humor, endless bubbly energy, and a gorgeous smile to top it all off! When found her that mornng in a charming cabin with a gorgeous view of the Potomac, it seemed like her makeup artist was having trouble getting her to sit still as she bounced around singing “yay!” over and over again – and that’s when we knew it was going to be the best day.
Every part of the day was a dream – Kathryn’s gorgeous bridal details included Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and a Sixpence for her shoe! You gotta love that commitment. When we switched over to catch up with Gil and his groomsmen, we were pleased to see them dressed to the nines, and it was in those quiet moments we realized Gil might be even sweeter than his female counterpart!
In the moments just before the ceremony, Kathryn spent some time in the gardens in Colonial Williamsburg, and it was the most beautiful, picturesque moment that came to life as Kathryn filled the air around her with bubbles of laughter and excitement. As her mother walked her down the aisle of the historic Bruton Parish Church, there was nothing short of elation being shared by everyone bearing witness.
Our favorite part? Hard to choose, but we would have to say that golden hour portraits turned into something pretty magical. Just capturing these two as they strolled hand-in-hand along the dock, with Gil holding Kathryn’s dress, made us weak in the knees. And as we snuck onto the green of the Kingsmill golf course’s eighteenth hole, the sunset cast a golden glow on our lovebirds, and we just basked in one of those moments where everything was perfect.
After dinner, everyone danced the night away, and you couldn’t keep our bride and groom off the dance floor! Each guest had the best time, and all were hard-pressed to say goodnight. Kathryn + Gil were “sent off” with a sweeping sparkler exit, and dashed off on a dolled-up golf cart, only to circle back around a few minutes later to continue celebrating at the after-party upstairs!!
We cannot say enough how much we love these two Handspun Honeys, and we are so grateful to have formed such a wonderful friendship. We dare you not to smile as you watch them both light up with joy throughout their wedding day – watch their highlight film below!!
